Over 200 military spouses from around the world gathered together May 8th-9th in Arlington, Virginia to attend the 2019 Military Spouse of the Year Townhall.
The momentous annual event was opened by keynote speaker Second Lady, Karen Pence, who discussed bringing awareness of the unique challenges of military spouses and the importance of allocating the necessary resources to assist in military spouse employment.
Throughout the one and half-day event, military spouses in attendance were given the opportunity to learn from multiple engaging speakers, network, discover new resources, and strengthen their leadership capabilities.
This year Cassaundra Martinez, co-founder of Boost: Military Spouse Leadership Accelerator, led an interactive workshop on the Art of Influence.
In an increasingly collaborative and connected world, success depends more than ever on building your influence. Persuading others begins with the individual.
Active listening, insightful questions, handling challenging conversations and assessing key stakeholders are just a few of the key takeaways the military spouses were given.
As military spouses, we often need to influence the decisions of our families, service members, our communities, and/or policymakers – the application of the Art of Influence can be found in every facet of the role in which we serve!
Art of Influence is a module within the Boost Leadership Curriculum.
